One of the most popular gaming genres in the mid 80’s to late 90’s was the movie license. From the 8bit home computer scene Ocean software led the way in releasing many great games based on the most popular movies of the time. Games such as Batman The Movie, Robocop, Rambo and Terminator 2 made people want to buy the machines to play them on especially when these titles came packaged with the machine – something Commodore did very well!
Although there have been great film licenses there are far more awful ones! Hudson Hawk, Wayne’s World, Home Alone are just a few. Paul and Arron from the team talk about their history growing up playing the genre and which games they loved and hated. They also discuss what makes a great movie license and also the rise and fall of the genre including how games are now being made based on cinematic universes from film.
