Returning to the topic of “shmups” covered in Episode 65, Chris Smith mk2 is joined by returning guest Shaun Holley of the Ten Pence Arcade podcast to talk more “shooting things right in t’face”. This time our hosts will be covering the subset of shoot em ups, those played with twin joysticks.
Starting in the early 80s and traveling through time to the present day, Chris and Shaun discuss the highlights of this relatively niche genre and just how much of an impact Eugene Jarvis had on the whole thing.
Couple of notes for the show:
Further reading on the “Tie Die Rom Set” for Robotron.
Footage from “Draco” released in 1981.
Total Carnage ending story
